How to create a new Gmail account

To create a Gmail account, you are actually creating a new Google account. In fact, one free Google account is all you need to do almost everything in Google’s world.

A Google account can be very useful with all the cloud services Google provides. Those goodies services are  Google Calender, Gmail, address book, documents, files, photo and music. As long as you remember your login and password, they are all at your finger tip. Also, you can also switch between devices, and pick up wherever you left off.

Step.1 Getting started

Now open up a web browser like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, visit the following URL:

Fill in necessary information and click next step. Please note that a valid mobile phone number is required to create a new Gmail account. There is nothing much to say here. Just click your way to finish the first step.

Step.2 Verify Google account security settings

If you think everything is all set once your new Gmail account is created, then you are still too young and too naive, Although it’s very convenient to use all the Google cloud services, you certainly need to understand how it works so you can keep yourself safe online.

With all the default settings, Google is able to track and record your location history (if you sign in the Google account on a mobile phone), know all of your contacts, and know all the webpages and websites you viewed. First, check the Personal info & privacy section. Click on Ads settings and click on manage ads settings. Make sure Ads Personalization is OFF. By doing so, you will see a reminder that tells you what you will see and what you will not. Step.3 Verify location history settings

Go to activity control, turn OFF location history

You may want to take some time to review all the security settings in your Google account. Maybe there are some other things you will want to turn off.
